Waterloo International Master’s Award of Excellence
International students who aspire to enrol in research-based Master’s degree programs at the University of Waterloo are supported through the Waterloo International Master’s Award of Excellence scholarship program.
Eligibility for the Waterloo International Master’s Award of Excellence
To be eligible for this scholarship program;
- Candidates must be international students
- They must have a valid Canadian study permit.
- Candidates must be fully enrolled at the University of Waterloo in a Master’s program that emphasizes research.
- They must be in their first year of graduate studies.
- Candidates cannot be on academic probation or have any other problems.
- Candidates are required to meet the Faculty’s standards for academic excellence since the faculty will decide on any additional academic requirements.
- They should not exceed the minimum levels of fully or partially supporting themselves.
- Candidates should not be concurrently receiving funding from foreign governments or organizations (such as the China Scholarship Council, Libyan sponsorship, etc.)
Value of the Waterloo International Master’s Award of Excellence
The scholarship is available to all candidates who apply to study at the University of Waterloo. It is worth CAD 2,500 per term for a maximum of five terms.

Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS)
The Ontario Graduate Scholarship is a program that provides financial aid to international students so they can continue their education at 19 reputable Canadian universities.
Some of the universities recognized by this scholarship program are the University of Guelph, University of Toronto, McMaster University, University of Ottawa, Queen’s University, York University, University of Waterloo, Western University, and Ryerson University.
Eligibility for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship
To be eligible for this scholarship;
- The candidate must be an international student.
- They must have a valid Canadian study permit.
- The candidate must be a full-time graduate student at one of the 19 colleges or universities this scholarship program recognizes.
Value of the Ontario Graduate Scholarship
The OGS scholarship is worth CAD 5,000 per term. As a result, Candidates could be awarded CAD 10,000 for two consecutive terms or CAD 15,000 for three consecutive terms.
